Mrs. Janet Banks

My name is Janet Ramdeen-Banks and I am presently a second grade teacher at Franklin Avenue. I am in my 22nd year of teaching elementary school. I left the classroom briefly to become a literacy coach and resource teacher. However, the urge to return to the classroom beckoned me back and now I am in my fourth year at Franklin. Over the years, I returned to the university on several occasions to take additional coursework and to gain additional expertise in language arts, mathematics, science, social science and the arts (I also received a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Reading). My philosophy is always to be on the cusp of new and innovative teaching techniques to effectively prepare and meet the changing needs of my students. I have also had the opportunity to present workshops and collaborate with a terrific group of similar minded colleagues. I have been married for 25 years and recently, my daughter, Amber, went off to college, so I am adjusting to that aspect of my life. I look forward to many years working with this wonderful staff and community here at Franklin.
